The Workshop carries out all restoration and repair services for early keyboard instruments. The nature of the work deteremines whether repairs ought to be made on site or in-house.
A full restoration would usually involve:
-removal of dust and debris -structural repairs if needed -replacement of worn out or ruptured leathers and cloths -replacment of missing action components with new ones made to fit -finish re-vitalised (if original and 'dulled') -stringing with historically-appropriate wire -action regulation -pitch raised to saisfaction, fine tuning and final regulation of the action.
All spare parts are made to measure in high quality timber and leathers and may be ordered individually. Are made all action parts, such as hammers, dampers and Geib escapements, as well as larger timber components, such as pedals, bridges, and rails.
